Youth Health and Wellness Program Coordinator
The University of Vermont Extension is hiring a Youth Health and Wellness Program Coordinator at 0.80 FTE (possibility to increase to 1.0 FTE when awarding additional grant funds). This position, based in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, provides leadership in the development and delivery of programs designed to support the health and well-being of young people, including but not limited to the promotion social-emotional skills and other protective factors through UVM Extensions’ 4-H program. 4-H is the nation’s positive youth development program that builds life and career skills through fun, hands-on experiences delivered in partnership with caring adults. Responsibilities include program development, coordination, teaching, grant writing, and evaluation of health and wellness initiatives, such as the evidence-based PROSPER partnership model and community sites. This will include supervising and collaborating with volunteers and staff, thinking strategically, conducting needs assessments, building community partnerships, developing resources, training, and fostering excellence in achieving the overall mission of 4-H.
Master’s degree and three years of related experience or equivalent combination, with focus on prevention, counselling, social work, trauma-informed practice or health programs required, focus on youth programs desired. Competence in youth, volunteer and program development. Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, teach and evaluate educational programs. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with youth and adult volunteers in a team environment. Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate clear goals. Computer and electronic communication skills and ability to work independently. An ability to interpret and communicate research findings to youth, volunteers, faculty and advisory groups. Ability to demonstrate leadership in a collaborative environment and consistently support decisions made by the University of Vermont Extension. Requires the ability to adopt a flexible schedule, which will include evenings and weekends, and willingness to travel, primarily within the state. Fluency in the Spanish language and experience working with migrants or other vulnerable populations is highly desirable.
