Program Coordinator for Youth and Children’s Ministries

Job Classification: Full-time, Exempt, Regular 40-hour work week


The Youth and Children’s Ministries Program Coordinator will be responsible for meeting the day-to-day needs of the Cathedral’s Youth and Children’s Ministries programs.


YOUTH Ministry:

  • Help prepare lessons and teach on Sunday mornings during Youth Sunday School (grades 6-12). Journey To Adulthood (J2A) Curriculum used.
  • Participate in the activities of the Sunday evening youth group (CJE).
  • Attend and teach Bible study lessons to youth on Tuesday evenings.
  • As needed, attend and accompany youth events, overnight youth trips and retreats throughout the year. For instance:
  • Diocesan Retreats – Diocesan Youth Commission in January, New Beginnings in March and September, Happen in February and October
  • Ski trip in January
  • Confirmation Retreat in April
  • Mission week during the summer
  • Rafting trip in August
  • Participate in the content and development of the weekly newsletter.
  • Participate in social media posts and communication updates.
  • Project management for assigned tasks.

Children’s Ministries:

  • Help with La Amistad (out-of-school tutoring for Hispanic children on the Cathedral campus) on Monday and Wednesday afternoons.
  • Monitor and respond to baptism requests from parishioners.
  • Co-chaperone of EYSeedlings activities (4e & 5e grade) – one Sunday per month
  • Assist in setting up special liturgical events and oversee supplies needed for events throughout the year. For instance:
  • Homecoming/Ministry Fair – September
  • Halloween Costume Blessing – November
  • Advent wreath making – December
  • Nicholas Night – December
  • Living Nativity – December
  • Shrove Tuesday – April
  • Kanuga Parish Retreat – Memorial Day Weekend, May


Training and/or experience

4-year college diploma

Professional written and verbal communication skills

Previous experience in ministry

Knowledge of the Episcopal Church and associated liturgy preferred

Ability to conduct and play music (i.e. guitar) preferred

Must undergo a background check and, upon hire, become certified by the Diocese of Atlanta’s Safeguarding God’s Children program.

Working environment

This position is full-time but requires flexibility in work schedule. Weekend and evening hours are planned. Some overnight travel is required.
