The community economic development and business lending organization in the South Kootenay region of British Columbia is pleased to announce the appointment of Amanda Murray as the Self-Employment Program Coordinator.

Amanda joins CFGT to lead the Self-Employment Program, a 48-week program designed to help unemployed, underemployed, and people with disabilities start and run their own businesses.

Amanda brings her passion for small business, expertise in planning, organizing and administration, and a unique insight into customer needs to the communities of Fruitvale, Montrose, Rossland, Trail, Warfield and RDKB Areas A & B. In addition to providing l Self-Employment Program, Amanda will provide business consulting services and lead workshops for small businesses on a variety of topics.

Many people have been impacted by job loss or uncertainty as communities navigate public health orders and restrictions resulting from COVID-19. While this created challenges for some, others saw it as an opportunity to create their own employment by starting or buying a business. A small business owner herself, Amanda understands the challenges small business owners have faced recently and how much help Community Futures can be for someone just starting out.

Eligible Self-Employment Program clients will receive support and instruction in developing a business plan, as well as ongoing business training and mentorship while managing their business. Contact us to learn more about how to receive a program referral.
