Ed Slott Launches IRA College Program for Advisors

Retirement Account and Tax Expert Ed Slott and his team of IRA experts have partnered with the American College of Financial Services to offer a 12-course training program for financial professionals.

The program, called IRA Success, is led by Ed Slott and Company, a provider of technical IRA training for financial advisors, CPAs and attorneys, according to an announcement of the launch in a press release.

The 12-course program will focus on the latest retirement and tax planning laws and strategies under the SECURE Act and the CARES Act, as well as the latest Required Minimum Distribution (or RMD) rules published by the Internal Revenue Service in February, according to the release. . The course will cover everything from new backdoor Roth opportunities to finding key beneficiary categories that are still eligible for expanded IRA provisions.

The self-study program is approved for continuing education credits. Each course comes with a video overview, resources to use with clients, and a digital course manual as a complete reference tool. Tuition for the program is $205 per course or $2,195 for the 12 months. Students who register before July 15 will receive $110 off the total tuition price, the statement said.

“The retirement planning landscape has been turned upside down over the past two years, and now the IRS has released new RMD rules that change the way payouts to beneficiaries will work,” Slott said in a statement. “Some of these new RMD rules are even more confusing than ever, but advisors need to be aware of them to help their clients ensure they are withdrawing the correct RMD amount. Through IRA Success, my team and I share this kind of insightful information on the college’s robust learning platform.

Slott is a CPA, founder of irahelp.com, author, and professor of practice at the American College of Financial Services in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.

Michael Finke, professor of wealth management at the college, said, “Ed Slott is the leading financial planning expert on IRAs. No one knows more about the myriad of techniques advisors can use to capitalize on IRA planning opportunities, and no one explains those techniques more clearly than Ed and his team.

Wade Pfau, who teaches college retirement income, said he was proud to work with Slott “to create comprehensive retirement planning education for financial professionals. The IRA Success program that Ed Slott and his company have created is the perfect complement to the Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP) program for advisors looking for a full understanding of the intricacies and potential mistakes made with qualified retirement plans,” said he declared.
